On August 7th Merritt Speedway in Merritt, Michigan (halfway between Houghton Lake and Lake City, Michigan on M-55) hosted a Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame Night.
For us board members the night of racing action was definitely a treat and appreciated more than words can express. Many race fans are not familiar with MMSHoF and the process associated with individuals being inducted into the hall. The opportunity that Rod & Rick Ancel provided allowed us as a board to not only recognize the 2010 inductees, but also inform fans and drivers of how their involvement is vital in getting deserving individuals inducted.
The skies over the speedway were certainly ominous and although we had a few delays as the skies opened up, the damp conditions only allowed for some great congregations of race-talk and some incredible feature racing action on a fresh track.
In the Modified A-Main Marc Kurth from Gaylord was impressive in his #00 machine as he wheeled his way from deep in the field to take the checkered flag.
The night was certainly a fun one and I can’t thank Merritt Speedway enough for the hospitality!
