When it comes to the state of Michigan, many images come to mind; most notably among them is the Mackinac Bridge.   The beauty of engineering intertwined with the splendor of two of the great lakes, an island, and the unspoiled terrain of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula have made the bridge iconic.   But, as most of us Michiganders know, the automotive industry and motorsports have their roots deeply planted in Michigan soil. Typically early April shows the signs of the emergence of race season.  Green grass, buds on the trees, and warm breezes.   This year for us Michiganders, this is definitely not the case.

Berlin, Winston, and Crystal have all already cancelled their openers while here in Northern Michigan we have snow in the forecast for the foreseeable future. Continue reading “Homestead Motorsports & Michigan Dirt Cup Are On Track For 2013”

A fast-paced hotlap session on opening night 2013 at Attica Raceway Park

Near a quiet little cemetery in a quant town in North-Central Ohio there is a place where speed and power culminate for an ultimate show of competition and adrenaline.

Attica Raceway Park is in the heart of the Attica Fairgrounds and although locals are used to the rumble of a fast moving train trekking on the property line frequently, the hauling locomotives can’t even begin to hold a candle to the rumble that emits from the speed plant every Friday night and occasional Saturday’s. When it comes to Northern Michigan the word “Unpredictable” is most descriptive.  Whether referencing the frequency of a suitable rest stop, cell phone service, the weather, or more importantly road conditions.

As the first stop on the Rally America tour, Montmorency, County and the Sno*Drift Rally is a challenge unparrelled for teams and drivers alike. Continue reading “Sno*Drift 2013: Rally Excitement Michigan Style”

Washed Away at the Big E

Eldora Speedway got hit with several surprise showers over the UNOH Sprintacular.

It was definitely a wet weekend throughout the nation.  But on a hope that the weatherman and his 0-20% chance of rain prediction was correct I headed down to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio for the UNOH Sprintacular featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions, the 360 NRA Sprint Invaders, and Eldora Stocks.    Of course, being mid-October I know the chances of a weather change were great, but I was really hoping to avoid the monsoon that’s ending line was mere miles from the famed half-mile track in rural Ohio. The Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club prides itself on encouraging race fans to visit new Michigan speedways and become more diversified in their tastes.  This past weekend that goal was evident as the club had member nights targeting the east side of the state, first on the dirt Friday night at Tri-City and then on the asphalt Saturday at Whittemore Speedway. Tim Dalman…Having Fun at Every Turn

Tim Dalman and his son Luke pose by his no.94T machine.

While sitting in the bleachers at I-96 Speedway one car always seems to catch the eye of every fan.  It’s not the neon orange no.94 on the side that grabs ones attention, but instead the smooth stealth-like moves of the driver behind the wheel of the blue hued Modified.   Tim Dalman has always had the driving style of a veteran and with a lineage of speed it is no wonder that Dalman has become one of I-96 Speedway’s top competitors.
