Austin Dillon… Staying close to his roots

Austin Dillon in action at Eldora Speedway.

A black and white no.3 seems like it would be an uncommon sight to the fans of dirt track racing.  Something to be seen only on Sunday’s from the comfort of ones living room or occasionally from the grandstands of the nearest NASCAR sanctioned event.  But that no.3 has been a common sight on all ends of the spectrum in recent years since Austin Dillon began turning laps. The Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club prides itself on encouraging race fans to visit new Michigan speedways and become more diversified in their tastes.  This past weekend that goal was evident as the club had member nights targeting the east side of the state, first on the dirt Friday night at Tri-City and then on the asphalt Saturday at Whittemore Speedway. Tim Dalman…Having Fun at Every Turn

Tim Dalman and his son Luke pose by his no.94T machine.

While sitting in the bleachers at I-96 Speedway one car always seems to catch the eye of every fan.  It’s not the neon orange no.94 on the side that grabs ones attention, but instead the smooth stealth-like moves of the driver behind the wheel of the blue hued Modified.   Tim Dalman has always had the driving style of a veteran and with a lineage of speed it is no wonder that Dalman has become one of I-96 Speedway’s top competitors. Billy Bray unbuckles after a hot lap session in his no.94.

“Living the Dream”, It’s a term we hear quite often and usually associate with very few lucky individuals.  But for Spring Lake, Michigan’s Bill Bray that is exactly what he does each and every weekend.

For the driver of the no.94 Dirt Late Model racing isn’t just a hobby as he said with a smile, “I race!  That’s what I do and who I am.” Continue reading “Bill Bray…Living It and Loving It!”

Earl Pearson Jr. (no.44) and Jared Landers (no.5) prepare for the start of heat race #1.

AWESOME!…That single word is what best describes Eldora Speedway and the annual Dream 100.

On June 8-9th Eldora once again was a playground for the best of the best in the world of Dirt Late Model drivers.   Ninety-Eight high compression, dirt throwing, wind whipping Late Models filled the pits for the event, each driver hoping to land a spot in victory lane holding a $100,000.00 check and the honor of having won one of dirt track racings crown jewel events. Hot Racing On A Cold Night at Crystal Motor Speedway

Flinn Blvd. was heavily trafficked on Saturday, April 21st.

With temperatures not even reaching the 50 degree mark on April 21st one would think that the bleachers would be nearly empty at tracks like Crystal Motor Speedway, but CMS shivered through week two of their 2012 season with a full show featuring six divisions before a nearly packed set of grandstands. Before the first car even took to the speedway several brave fans in hooded sweatshirts sat in the stands ready for the awesome racing action that is always present at CMS.
