For 18-year old Gunnar Buhr, dirt bike racing isn’t just a sport it is a way of life. The Gaylord, Michigan native doesn’t recall a time when he didn’t feel comfortable atop the seat of a KTM. Even though Buhr doesn’t remember life before dirt bike racing, he also can’t imagine a life without it.

RallyCross is a true test of production equipment, there are no mandates for a roll cage, no installation of race seats and safety belts; instead you or I could take our daily driver, pay a registration fee, strap on a helmet and tackle the course. It was an exciting weekend in Montmorency Co. with the normally serene woods filled with the rumble of engines and hiss of turbo’s. On January 28-29th a county typically void of traffic and containing not a single traffic light was filled to capacity for the 2011 Sno*Drift Rally.

For most of my life when I thought of racing it was always centered on the four-wheeled variety…but then five years ago all that changed. It wasn’t an amazing race that got me tuned into Super-Cross racing instead it was little Gunnar Buhr who at the age of two introduced me to his first vocabulary words of “Ahhhmaha” (Yamaha) and “Suzuki” and colors like “KTM Orange”.
